I peer at a piggy through the glass
at a pet shop in the mall
and it seems to peer back at me
take me home with you give me a better place to stay
and I silently tell it:
One day, someone will take you home, and give you love and care.
It may not be me, but one day you will be in a place where you
are not bullied by your cage mates, or laughed at by shoppers when they hit
the glass and you run and hide. One day you will go to a wonderful place where you
are loved by all around you. And you will be appreciated.
The piggy seems to have understood, for when he looks back at me,
I see the slightest smile twitching up on the corners of his guinea pig mouth. And I am satisfied. I smile
and walk home.
