This page contains periodic updates about Pearl from Megan, Pearl's new caretaker, and Angel, her rescuer and former caretaker.

12-19-06 Angel: I hear that she is doing wonderful, she is over 500 grams now. She doesn’t like to get her teeth trimmed at all. She has a new buddy named Honey and she meets with four other female guinea pigs during play time at least every day. Pearl has her new Mummie controlled now. Every time she makes the Critical Care mix, she starts shrieking for it like crazy and starts running around until she gets it.

1-28-07 Megan: “Pearlie's privileged piggy slave”: She is doing well and now weighs 582g. She sometimes will snuggle with a member of my herd, but has yet to form any truly close friendships. She must miss her former cage mate. We trim her incisors every two weeks or so, and thankfully she is still healthy. She currently prefers normal piggy food to her mush... so I take that as a good sign.

1-29-07 Angel: She is now 589 grams. She does not ask for Critical Care much. She would rather eat like the others. But Megan still gives her Critical Care to keep her weight steady. Megan and her hubby calls her Lil’ Monster Pearlie. I am still waiting on pictures of her.

2-17-07 [Megan's photos]: New photos of Pearl: "round and fluffy"!

5-12-07 Angel: Pearl is doing good and she is somewhere over 600 grams now and getting big. She now lives with Alfie and Diamond so she has 2 buddies now.

6-22-07 Angel: Pearl turned 1 on June 17th and she is gaining weight. ... She was battling an URI for awhile and I am not sure if she overcame the URI yet.

8-4-07 Angel: I am sad to say that Sweet Lil Pearlie passed away today. She has been battling infections for 3 months and never really over came it. The infection had spread to her eyes and ears where her ears would bleed from a neurological damage from the infection.

Megan's husband took Pearl into the vet to see what they could do, she thought of PTS but wanted to spend the weekend with her first. Nick (hubby) brings her home, tells her from the vet that Pearl is dying. Megan came home from work, spent time with Pearl, Pearl passed away in her arms. Pearl waited until Megan came home so she can have her last moments with her.

I thought Pearl would outlive many lethals that were around but she didn't. She is now with Patches, Hairyette, CozyAnna, Holly, and Miss Piggy. She can see and hear now, no more infections.
